If conserving the ocean ecosystem peaks your interest, you might want to check out the great opportunity offered by Broadreach through its Fiji Shark Studies program. The 24-day adventure lets you get up close and personal with tiger, bull and lemon sharks in their natural environment at the Shark Reef Marine Reserve.
It’s a great opportunity to learn about shark behavior and the environment in which they live, plus what you can do to help preserve it. You’ll experience coral dives that put you face to face with these magnificent creatures while also learning about local history and legends concerning the sharks in Fiji.
During your down time, you can also participate in exciting whitewater rafting adventures and epic kayak trips, or simply explore local villages and meet the people living on the island. Scuba certification is required before you can participate and minimum age is 15 years old. They offer college credit for students interested in pursuing a career in environmental preservation and similar studies. You’ll also have the chance to receive four certifications and 10 community service hours along the way.
If you’re ever wondered what it would be like to swim with sharks, or simply want to discover ways in which you can help ocean wildlife thrive, it’s definitely worth checking out.
