Portugal is a tiny nation with a big history. This one-time pioneer in maritime exploration is now a beautiful country, home to welcoming people, delicious food and tons of culture. Portugal has been a crossroads of cultures for thousands of years. Influenced by many other countries, Portugal took the best from all of them and created a wonderful society. This diversity in culture is reflected through the language, arts, food and music. Its most populated city, Lisbon, is ranked as one of the most affordable and safest European destinations. Choose to study here and you’ll make memories to last a lifetime.

Lisbon is the capital of Portugal in more ways than one. Littered with mosaic architecture and home to gorgeous weather, this city is a student’s paradise. Lisbon is filled with welcoming Portuguese citizens ready to share their culture with foreigners.

Just like any European country, Portugal offers spectacular castles and hands-on history lessons in its backyard. Students can visit the mesmerizing castle of Sintra or stay local and visit the sites of their respective city. For stressful days and weeks, students can take breaks by the beach and soak up the sun. There are nearby islands and stunning natural spectacles to see, for example, the Algarve. The country has everything a student could need for a perfect semester abroad. Students will also have a chance to perfect their Portuguese and learn what makes Portugal such a special place.
