Study Shows Americans Redefining Luxury Travel

A recent study from Apple Vacations indicates Americans are changing up how they think of luxury travel.

The study found the majority of respondents said they no longer define a luxury trip merely by how much money was spent on said trip. Instead, they now connect luxury with tailored experiences. Nearly 50 percent also said they define a luxury trip as one in which they don’t need to make a lot of the planning decisions on their own.

However, there are still some luxury amenities travelers are after, even if their focus is on a stress-free, hands-off trip personalized to their needs.

Jacki Marks, global head of trade brands, Apple Vacations said, “Americans are ready to upgrade their vacation experiences and add on luxury amenities such as a suite-style rooms, elevated dining and spa and wellness amenities, without breaking the bank or being overwhelmed with stress.”

The study also found more than half of traveler respondents would be more likely to work with a travel advisor to plan a luxury vacation than they would be when planning a regular vacation. Additionally, respondents estimated, in 2024, they’ll spend about $12,000 per person for their next luxury trip.
