Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts recently shared tips on sustainable and eco-friendly packing tips for travelers this summer — you might not realize eco-friendly habits start the moment you pack your bags!
Grupo Piñero, owners, Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, launched a series of recommendations through its “We are Ecoist” movement, inviting travelers to contribute to efforts to make a more sustainable world.
Below are some of those tips:
Go Paperless
Technology and digitalization make it much easier for travelers. They can use their phones to keep their tickets in their digital wallets, as well as using maps and travel guides. It is also much easier to keep all of your documents and travel information in one place.
Eco-Friendly Suitcases, Backpacks
More and more companies and manufacturers are using recycled and environmentally friendly materials, giving travelers the opportunity to be more mindful when purchasing new suitcases and backpacks.
Toiletry Bag
When prepping your toiletry bag, consider packing products made from recycled materials, such as bamboo toothbrushes, wooden combs and natural sponges. If you are going to a sunny destination, purchase a biodegradable sunscreen that won’t harm the environment.
Reusable Essentials
One way to reduce the toll of plastic on the plant is to use reusable cloth bags to store dirty laundry instead of trash bags. Another is to invest in reusable water bottles instead of opening multiple water bottles throughout the trip.

Insta FeedAre You Ready for the Final Switch to Real ID?
Yesterday, TSA began enforcing new identification guidelines, a change that’s been a long-time coming. Now, travelers must show a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued ID in order to fly on domestic flights, in lieu of a non-compliant driver’s license (some other forms of identification, such as passports, will still be acceptable).
