The Internet is no stranger to travel deal sites that all promise the absolute best rate you can find anywhere on the web. However, search engine giant Google has been tweaking and perfecting their own version of travel data search technologies, and launched Google Flights in February.
The search engine’s flight database scans not only the best prices, but also the least complicated routes (e.g., fewer connections, reasonable layover times) and whether an airline charges baggage fees.
Some of its unique characteristics help it stand apart from other flight search engines. For example, an interactive map lets you see the current best rate to any city in the world from your selected destination airport. This may be especially helpful if you plan to fly to a major city with more than one airport, as flights to one may be cheaper than flights to another.
Google’s I’m Feeling Lucky button has tickled the curiosity of web surfers for years. Now, you can translate the button’s purpose into travel. We’ve all dreamed of going to the airport and picking a random destination from the departures board. With Google Flights, you can fantasize about this endeavor from the comfort of your own couch.
