Tasteful Halloween-Inspired Weddings

When you think of a Halloween wedding, many things come to mind, but elegant and classic are not two of those things. Garish and tacky may be closer to your thoughts. If you really love the season surrounding the holiday; however, there are ways to incorporate elements of the festivities into your wedding, without sacrificing good taste by going over-the-top.

Avoid choosing neon orange and black as your two primary wedding colors. Instead, opt for a muted, pastel orange, paired with a non-Halloween color, such as champagne. Add black accents into your centerpieces, floral arrangements or bridesmaids’ jewelry. Incorporate seasonal fall flowers, squash and pumpkins into your table settings and décor. Tall candlesticks and black lace can add extra flair.

Choose a venue just a little spooky with the right touches. A rural setting with a pumpkin patch and corn maze can be positively haunting on a chilly night. Some couples are finding abandoned historic homes and warehouses make the perfect nuptial spot (just be sure any abandoned spaces are both safe and legal to use). Venues that already boast dramatic, gothic architecture can be transformed into settings fit for the big screen with a little bit of magic from your florist and decorator.

A photo booth at your reception is the perfect place to add a bit more purely Halloween fun. Photo booth props can be picked up in the costume aisle of any supermarket starting in September — masks, vampire teeth, fake weapons and more will leave your guests howling with laughter at the end of the night. Send them home with bags of your and your fiancé’s favorite trick-or-treating goodies.
