If you enjoy traveling but get frustrated by not being able to get your message across due to that pesky language barrier, then the ili translator might be your next investment.

Currently supporting only Japanese, Chinese and English, this small device hangs around your neck, listens in on what you’re saying and magically translates it without the need of WiFi or 4G thanks to its built-in OS. The device comes with an extensive library that will back you up, linguistically speaking, for any situation.

The speaker, as small as it looks, packs a powerful punch and makes itself heard, although, according to some early tests, it hasn’t done all that well in loud environments. However, ili would, nonetheless, be useful and, at times, a godsend in important business meetings and stressful travel scenarios. It also far outperforms other translation engines that require an internet connection.

This gadget will surely be a hit with travelers, businessmen, and even singletons looking for a translating wingman that won’t suffer from being a third wheel. Unfortunately, reports suggest the device won’t come up with useful lines or hilarious jokes; you’re on your own there.
