The Signature Room is one of my favorite restaurants to visit while I’m in Chicago. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just want a nice dinner with an impressive view, The Signature Room delivers. Located on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Center, the restaurant is surrounded by tall windows that overlook the city and Lake Michigan, and while the day views are gorgeous, the view at night is absolutely breathtaking, particularly if you’re lucky enough to get a window seat.
While the day crowd is made up of mostly families, friends and the occasional couple, the night crowd is certainly drawn to the romantic atmosphere that The Signature Room delivers, from the low candlelight to the ever-present pianist. There’s a reason I’ve witnessed more than a handful of proposals while dining there.
This restaurant is not all about the ambience, however. Their menu is always fresh and delicious, and the wait staff is wonderfully engaging and attentive. Their brunch ($45 per adult) includes both a starter and a sweets buffet, where chefs prepare made-to-order omelets and frozen desserts, among the other offerings. The brunch entrees themselves include everything from a French toast bread pudding with an apricot chutney to braised goat with gnocchi. The dinner menu is varied as well, with appetizers like foie gras torchon and beet tartare followed by tantalizing entrée specialties from roasted rack of lamb to vegetable rigate pasta. After dinner, you can head upstairs to their accompanying lounge for a drink.
As sometimes the waits can be long without a reservation, it’s often a good idea to plan ahead and reserve your spot a week or so in advance.

Travelers booking a fall trip to Nashville should make Noelle their homebase.
