There’s nothing more terrifying than the prospect of spending hours on a plane with an unruly child. In order to curb a potential disaster, here are a few tips for keeping your kids happy during your next family flight.
Bring Food
Airplane food is often awful. You’d better come equipped with your kids’ favorite snacks, health be darned. If they want Cheerios, you stuff their little faces with those balls of sugar until their little hearts are content.
Movies
A DVD or downloaded movies/TV shows on your phone is a necessity. You’ve got to keep the tykes entertained for long periods of time or else they’ll start kicking the back of the seat in front of them and you might get punched.
Be Alert
You need to get your rest in before the flight, because it isn’t anyone else’s responsibility to babysit your child. Be awake and be aware of their needs as you fly. If they fall asleep, then you can risk a quick nap.
Enlist Help
Make friends with your neighbors and hope they like children, because they can be a valuable resource for keeping the kids calm if they’re willing. Chat them up and warn them ahead of time if you think your kid might start acting up.
Drug Them
Knock them out with drugs, prescribed by a doctor. This is only a last resort, of course.
