Mobile bookings for travel are on the rise, but the process of researching hotels, transportation, restaurants and flights can be time consuming. Here are a few of the best apps available for travel planning and flight booking.
Hitlist is great for those looking for a new destination without a specific one in mind. The app is built to help make new destinations easy and affordable. It suggests the top places to travel within the next month and breaks down airfares into categories of average, good, great and spectacular. It also recommends great food places, entertainment and more. The app is currently only available for iOS devices.
Get the Flight Out is geared toward spontaneous travelers who want to book a flight on the fly. It’s ideal for quick getaways and offers a simple, user-friendly format to find the cheapest and most immediate deals.
Hopper is less immediate than Get the Flight Out. Hopper watches flights for you and notifies you when the best deals are available or if prices start to rise. For the traveler who likes to plan ahead, this app may be your best bet.
Lola Travel is a personal concierge-style service that works with travel agents to help navigate flight options, prices, amenities and loyalty programs. The best part of the app is the travel agents do the work for you based on your personal specifications. This app is only available for iOS.
Corner is a unique app in that you can choose to search the best fare rates by date and destination, or you can browse destinations by price, alphabetically or by time. There are a variety of flight options all on one screen and it tells you the price difference between traveling sooner versus later. You can also pay for a flight without leaving the app.
