Get away from the hustle and bustle of London with a quick stop in one of these beautiful green spaces, all just steps away from some of the city’s top attractions.
If you’re visiting Buckingham Palace, St. James’s Park is an easy few steps away. It’s also close to St. James’s Palace (of course) and the Churchill War Rooms. The beautiful lake with its pelicans makes for a peaceful backdrop.
From St. James’s Park, cross through Green Park and you’ll be spat out near Hyde Park, arguably the most famous in London. The Central Park of England, there’s no shortage of interesting features and things to do within. You’re also close to Kensington Palace.
Visiting the Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey or Big Ben? Victoria Tower Gardens is nestled right next to these three big attractions, adjacent to the Thames. The beautifully shaded spot seems more local than filled with tourists, despite its location, and you’ll see plenty of playing families and joggers.
If you’re headed off to the London Zoo, stop in at Regent’s Park. With more than 400 acres, you’ll find plenty to explore and see, from Queen Mary’s Rose Gardens to the Boating Lake.
Also near Kensington Palace, as well as several museums, Holland Park features a Jacobean mansion and a Japanese-style garden with a koi carp pond, peacocks and a waterfall. Summer months bring outdoor theater and opera to the park.
