Neushwanstein Castle

Windsor Castle

As the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, it is no wonder Windsor Castle, in England, made the list. This magnificent castle also contains many other sights, such as St. George’s Chapel and Queen Mary’s dollhouse, all located on the castle’s 13-acre property.

Carreg Cennen

Carreg Cennen Castle, in Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales, is a beautiful reminder of how life used to be, and how powerful nature and time can be. Ruinous since 1462, this ramshackle castle may be a bit tattered and worn, but makes the list for its rich history and scenic location.

The Palace of Pena

Probably one of the most colorful castles on the list, The Palace of Pena is the perfect example of 19th-century romanticism in Portugal. Surrounded by forest and luxurious gardens, this castle is a must see on any aficionado’s list.
