When it comes time to start searching for the world’s best flight deals, it can be overwhelming to decide where to begin. Dozens of websites claim they offer the cheapest flights, but which really do and which can you trust? Regardless of which site you choose, it’s best practice to cross-reference to find the best deal.
Kayak
As one of the more popular flight search engines among Americans, Kayak is typically a go-to when starting a flight search. The site monitors price fluctuations and can keep you informed of increases, decreases and when is the best time to buy versus waiting for future price drops.
Google Flights
Google Flights is the best option if your dates and destination are flexible. You can play around with dates and search via the map, and filter results by budget.
Momondo
Originally more popular with Europeans, Momondo stretched across the ocean. One gripe among users is the lack of transparency as some search results won’t list the actual airline but will indicate whether it is a major airline or another airline. Therefore, Momondo is a decent search engine but not a viable booking engine.
Expedia
Expedia is with you every step of the way when booking an airline. Before you can confirm your ticket, Expedia reminds you what you’re purchasing and what’s included, and doesn’t charge an extra booking fee for round-trip flights on the same airline.
TripAdvisor Flights
Mostly known for its reviews of everything from hotels and restaurants to tour companies and airlines, TripAdvisor also has its own flight search function. One perk is the airlines are listed in search results with a FlyScore rating beside each airline.
