‘Tis the season for Netflix dates and take-out. Winter is the ideal season for homebodies; it’s the perfect reason to stay inside for dates — but sometimes that can get boring and repetitive. Can dates be fun in the winter? We like to think so.
There are some fun things you and your significant other can do this winter, as long as it’s not a blizzard outside.
Spa Outing
Schedule a couple’s spa outing. Relish the opportunity to spend quality time together with a couples massage; there is nothing better in the dead of winter.
Holiday Lights
Check out the holiday lights. Pop in a Christmas playlist — be sure to sing along — and bring some cookies to start driving around checking out neighborhood lights or perhaps a staged holiday light show.
Give the Date a Movie Theme
Recreate a movie, like Elf. Walk around NYC drinking crappy coffee, running in circles in a revolving door and topping your spaghetti with sugared maple syrup, sprinkles, mini-marshmallows, chocolate syrup, M&Ms and Frosted Chocolate Fudge Pop-Tarts. Then go ice skating at Rockefeller Center — okay, maybe not in that exact order.
Cook
Crack open a cookbook or find a local cooking class. Pick up the ingredients and make something new; have your significant other make the appetizer, you prepare dinner and both create the dessert — test your cooking skills, or lack thereof.
Long Weekend
Make a weekend of last week’s blizzard. Take a weekend ski or snowboarding trip and after a long day, snuggle up in front of the cozy fire sipping hot chocolate.
