With 137 total islands, Hawai’i has a lot to offer. The island state is composed of eight major islands, several coral atolls and more than 100 islets.
Maui
This hot vacation destination is a long-time favorite of travelers exploring the island state. Maui houses an oasis of ecological diversity as well as a variety of beaches.
Mokoli’i
Just off the coast of Honolulu, this small, conical island is a welcome refuge from the business of the city. Its beautiful views can be reached kayaking, swimming or wading.
O’ahu
This island houses the capital and largest city in Hawai’i, Honolulu. To get a taste of the history of the island, check out one of the many museums located on Honolulu.
Hawai’i
Named “The Big Island,” Hawai’i’s largest island by area is home to a variety of different topography — beaches, cities and mountains.
Molokini
This outlying island can be reached by kayak, though it is not for the faint of heart. Because of its beautiful reefs and diverse fish population, it is also a popular place to go snorkeling or scuba diving.
Wherever you go, be sure to respect the abundant wildlife of the islands. Hawai’i is a beautiful, natural paradise that also has several lively cities, and both aspects of the islands should be treated with the utmost respect.
