Traveling to try a new culture’s food is nothing new as some destinations have become desirable solely for their unique food offerings typically not found elsewhere in the world. However, thanks to the wide culinary diversity in the cities below, travelers can expose themselves to countless cuisines in the confines of just one metropolitan area.
New York
Based on recent research conducted by Bott and Co., New Yorkers have at their disposal up to 94 unique international cuisines from which to choose when lunchtime hits. The offerings range from Icelandic fish and chips to Albanian delicacies to Kiwiana for a New Zealand meal.
London
London’s strong international influence centers on Asian cuisines, particularly those from India and surrounding countries, as well as the Middle East. But thanks to its large immigrant population, nearly 90 cuisines are represented in the U.K. capital.
Chicago
As a popular settlement region for Eastern and Northern Europeans in the 20th century, Chicago’s range of cuisine spans from Armenian, Polish (Lutnia Polish Restaurant) and Ukranian (Hugo’s Pelmeni) to Afghani kebabs, Korean food at Crisp and Kyrgyzstani food at Dastorkon.
Berlin
The majority of Berlin’s non-European international cuisine comes from Asia and includes Cambodian at Angkor Wat restaurant, Filipino street food at Ayan, Nepalese at Nepal Haus and Syrian cuisine at Lawrence.
