When it comes to travel, board game lovers are hit with the realization they cannot bring all of their games with them. The bulky and heavy boxes take up more room than they are worth, but that does not mean your next trip needs to be devoid of the entertainment.

Hive

Hive is what happens when chess meets a variety of bugs.

The game is made up of a number of hard, tactile pieces and the game does not need a large play area. The game comes in a small box that lends itself well to travel. In addition to the standard Hive, which travels well on its own, there is a travel edition, making it possible to play this abstract strategy game even on a plane’s tray table.

Fluxx

This card game offers rules that change constantly in a package not much bigger than a standard deck of cards.

Fluxx’s charm lies in that what begins as a game with only two basic rules changes and adapts. The result is a wacky game that can get laughs out of even the most serious players.

Fluxx comes in a lot of different themes, too. Just pick your favorite and you are off.

Zombie Dice

Zombie Dice is a simple “push your luck” dice game themed around zombies.

The actual game comes in a little plastic container, making it the perfect size and shape for travel. The game is quick and a round can be played in as little as 10 minutes.

A Standard Deck of Cards

Not many games will fit into a container smaller than a good, old-fashioned deck of 52 cards.

There are hundreds of games for any group size. When it comes down to it, a deck of cards might be the best option for travelers who want to game on the road.
