Stay in a Hostel
Hostels will cut the cost of your accommodation significantly when traveling. Whether you are traveling with friends or by yourself, this will help maintain a budget and meet new people while doing so. If you prefer your own space, there are usually private rooms in hostels where you can be by yourself when you go to bed and then meet up with the other boarders when you want to socialize.
Work and Travel
There may be work opportunities available for people while traveling, especially in hostels or bars. These options will either give you a free place to stay or free drinks, but, at the end of the day, you’ll have extra pocket money to spend on your continued journey
Most countries do not require U.S. passport holders to have a work visa for a period of 30–90 days when they travel. Do some research to see what countries offer this option, if not, you may have to apply for a work visa.

Couch surfing is when you sleep in spare bedrooms or on couches throughout your stay for free. Some hosts act as tour guides to their visitors. Those gestures, in turn, help travelers save money on accommodations and tours. It is recommended you bring tokens of appreciation from your last stop or from your home country.
