Sites like Airbnb have taken travel to an almost impersonal level. When booking your holiday, all you need is a computer and a credit card or a PayPal account. Invisible-service hotels are jumping onto this trend by presenting guests with access to discrete accommodations that don’t feel anything like a typical hotel. These non-vacations will take the time-wasting out of having to check-in and chat with a concierge.
Although the abodes are officially hotels, the apartment-style amenities allow guests to feel more at home. There are no key cards, no front desks and no baggage attendants to tip. This type of hands-off service means you will be able to completely relax without having to dodge room service staff or doormen.
Another benefit of these unmarked buildings serving as hotels is that crooks that lust after tourists’ money and ability to be confused in a new city won’t hover around the block. The sleek design of the buildings and absence of exterior staff help conceal the space so you’re not a target for theft.
As some cities begin to crack down on Airbnb properties due to local tax laws, invisible-service hotels may have found the niche for short-term travelers.
