‘Tis the season for snowy outdoor fun! Grab your winter jackets, ski pants, gloves and hats and get ready to hit the slopes. Head to the Pocono Mountains, located in upstate Pennsylvania, for two of the largest snow tubing parks in the country: Camelback Resort in Tannersville and Blue Mountain Resort in Palmerton.
Recently, Blue Mountain Resort expanded its park from 24 lanes to 46 and is currently the largest snow tubing park in the country. Each lane is more than 1,000 feet long and the park includes three lifts. Guests can choose between double tubes so they can ride with a friend or a single tube to take the mountain solo. Located adjacent to the ski mountains, the park offers around 19 three-hour sessions taking place per week. The staff is professionally trained to instruct tubers about the rules and safety regulations. Hours normally run from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, along with holidays. Starting at $20, tickets must be purchased online to reserve your session. The snow tubing season is set to kick off Dec. 26.
The Camelback Resort Snow Tubing Park is the second-largest in the United States and also features Galactic Night Tubing — an exhilarating after-dark tubing party complete with music, disco lights and 44 tube lanes. After working up an appetite, check out the Meatball Mayhem food truck and Tap Bar beverage trailer for soups, sandwiches, beer and more. Sit back, warm up and relax by the fire while taking in your surroundings. At Camelback, each session is two hours long and starts every hour on the hour. Midweek tickets start at $33, while weekend tickets begin at $42. Tickets can be purchased online.
