Start your day in Nashville with a trip to Five Daughters Bakery in East Nashville to try one of the 100 Layer Donuts, for which the delicious bakery is famous. You’ll have a difficult time choosing just one donut variety, so splurge a little and get a few.

Since you’re already in East Nashville, take some time to explore the area, especially the range of interesting shops, from vintage stores to boutiques, high-end skincare outlets to record stores.

While in the neighborhood, also try to snag a spot on one of the popular tours at Olive & Sinclair. The craft chocolatier creates small batches of delicious and pretty to look at confections. Even if you can’t make one of the regularly scheduled, short tours, you can still stop in, try a few samples and pick up some chocolate for the road.

Make your way over to The Parthenon, a full-sized reproduction of the Greek Parthenon. The structure was built during Nashville’s centennial celebration and was so well-liked by the locals, they decided to keep it around for the long haul. Take a tour, check out the art galleries and definitely don’t miss the statue of Athena upstairs. She’s the tallest indoor structure in the Western Hemisphere.

Head to Historic Travellers Rest to explore the oldest home still open to the public in Nashville. The Federal period house is a beautiful site with historic ties to some of Tennessee’s most prominent individuals.

End your day by indulging in dinner at Rolf and Daughters. The delicious restaurant in Nashville’s Germantown combines Northern Italian, Southern and Mediterranean inspiration for a truly one-of-a-kind result. The limited menu does not disappoint, with tantalizing options such as trout with smoked roe, red potato and koi beurre blanc, or the spaghetti squash with wheatberry, hazelnut and hay cream.
