Under $100 / North America

Saskatoon, located in the province of Saskatchewan, might not be on your radar but there are plenty of reasons it should be. Incredibly friendly locals and abundant sunshine (the most in Canada!) and plenty of exciting festivals and restaurants make it a wonderful place to spend a day. It’s also more affordable than other, more prominent cities in the country.

Start the morning right with a big breakfast at Crazy Eggs for heaping helpings of eggs and bacon. If you get there before 9 a.m., it’ll only cost you $6. It’s quick, easy and a great way to kick start the day.

Spend your morning exploring the nearby Wanuskewin Heritage Park to learn all about the historic Native population who has lived in the area for more than 6,000 years. It contains numerous trails and activities designed to educate visitors on the historical significance of the region. Admission is only $8.50

When lunchtime rolls around, make your way to the south end riverfront and grab a sandwich at Berry Barn. The Smoked Farmer Sausace is a great way to fill up and will only cost you $13. Plus, the views here are pretty great and the service top-notch.

Now is a great opportunity to take a stroll along the riverbank through the Meewasin Trail to check out the sights before popping into the downtown farmer’s market to purchase a few goods to take with you on the road. Set aside $10 for some fruits and bread.

For dinner finish off at Joey’s Seafood Restaurant. The fish and chips dish is made with fresh halibut and will only run you roughly $20. It’s a delicious option in a fun atmosphere and a great place to end the day.
