Windsor shot to fame as the venue for the royal wedding in 2018, but it’s a good destination year-round for fans of traditional British towns.
Go to Bill’s Windsor Restaurant for a big breakfast to set you up for the day ahead ($14) and then walk through town to the castle. It’s an expensive activity at $27 per person, but if you are a fan of the royal family, it’s worth the entrance price. If you don’t want to go in, enjoy a stroll through the impressive Windsor Great Park and save your money for something else.
Try The Boatman for a proper pub lunch looking over the magnificent River Thames, with traditional pub grub dominating the menu ($15). Afterward, get out on the water with a boat trip along the river ($12) to see the castle, Eton College and Windsor Racecourse.
Once your back, enjoy a drink at The Duchess of Cambridge ($7) pub before dinner at A la Russe, a French-inspired restaurant great for an intimate meal ($20). If you’ve got a bit of energy, and money, left after dinner, head for a nightcap at The Scotch ($6 each drink) before retiring to your quarters.
