One of the best parts of traveling is experiencing another culture through its most accessible and ubiquitous aspect: food. And bonus points if you’re able to score a table at a restaurant with a view, where you can soak in the city or region you’re traveling in while you eat.
Each year, OpenTable releases its list of the 100 most scenic restaurants in America and they’ve just released the list for 2016.
The list is compiled by analyzing more than 5 million reviews of more than 20,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Each entry is submitted by verified OpenTable diners and takes into account reviews submitted between July 1, 2015–May 31, 2016.
The full list is available on OpenTable’s website and can be sorted by state, with 34 states represented. The list includes Duke’s in Malibu, The Rainbow Room in New York and Seven Glaciers in Girdwood, Alaska. California earned nearly one quarter of winning restaurants with 24, followed by Washington with 10 and Florida with seven.
“These destination-worthy restaurants, some situated atop city skyscrapers or nestled on mountainsides, provide diners with a true sense while vacationing in a new spot or exploring a local gem. While the views enhance the experience, the food is equally important with American fare and seafood restaurants proving most popular,” OpenTable says of its list.
