Since 1971, Denmark has hosted one of the largest and noteworthy musical festivals in Europe. Roskilde Festival is a four-day event so epic, a warm-up of equal length was instituted on the days before the actual festival.
From June 25 to July 2, music lovers from all over join in what can only be described as an adults’-only summer camp that all leads up to one amazing music festival.
For four days before the festival, guests will camp and party, check out the on-site skate park, swim in the lake, attend film screenings or run naked around the campsite in the annual nude run. The nude run tradition began in 1988 when brave festivalgoes ran naked for a chance to wine free passes for the next year’s festival.
After four days of fun, the main event begins. Music legend Bruce Springsteen, The Roots, Bob Dylan, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and so many more have graced the Roskilde stages over the years and all for a good cause.
The event is run by Roskilde Festival Charity Society and has raised more than $25 million for charity over the years. With more than 100,000 festivalgoers in attendance and musical genius to spare, this event justifies the eight days of partying it requires.
