Throw away your fancy high heels and dapper tuxedos because a new trend is evolving in the world of weddings. Some couples have started taking tying the knot to extremes by hosting adventure weddings, or weddings that appeal to the couple’s and guests’ more active interests.
Engaged couples are looking for more ways to get their guests involved and to make their special day more memorable for others, especially if they have forked over a fortune for a destination wedding. If uncles and aunts are going to travel all the way to New Zealand for the nuptials, why not offer a group bungee-jumping excursion to make it a wedding they will never forget?
Instead of spending hours seated at a bridal luncheon, brides and bridesmaids are playing tennis or taking group yoga classes to help them relax and re-charge before the main event. Some groups make it a fun competition by holding bridesmaids-versus-groomsmen beach volleyball tournaments or outdoor scavenger hunts with local food and liquors as rewards.
Most duos keep these adventures optional as grandparents may not be as keen to participate. But for the ones who do, it’s a chance to bond with fellow attendees and share in the theme of coming together for love.
