What used to be considered juvenile and destructive to cities has now turned into one of the most appreciated and chic trends to hit modern cities. People flock from around the world to watch artists paint murals live in broad daylight.
In 2008, Europe threw its first-ever live street art festival which was a huge success. This year, you can get a piece of the action July 23–25, when Upfest is throwing the Urban Paint Festival. Last year, the completely free event saw 300 participating artists and more than 30,000 visitors in South Bristol. Artists like Cheba, Giusi and Daniela Reed painted the city last year.
If you’re visiting New York, you can check out all of the live street artists work by visiting Street Art Live. It shows you a map of all of the street art in NYC and lets you search by artist if you’re looking to find a certain somebody’s work.
Last year Brisbane, Australia, hosted its own Live Street Art Festival featuring international and local artists. Hopes are they’ll host another one this year.
