Italy is known for its love of soccer, and Naples is famous for taking things even further than most other cities.
The local team, known as Napoli, are a focal point for citizens. In cities like Milan there are two clubs for soccer fans to choose from, but Naples has just one. It’s also a huge part of life in a historically disadvantaged part of Italy, and fans say soccer takes on more importance when other parts of life are a struggle.
The most important moment in Napoli’s history involves one of the sport’s biggest names: Diego Maradona. The Argentinian superstar powered the team to its first league title in 1987, giving fans a chance to hit back at rivals. Maradona is still revered as a local legend to this day, and the fans are as passionate as ever.
These days, the team is known for playing attractive football, which made them a favorite team among soccer fans all over the world. The stylish approach to the game, the passion of the fans and the history of the city combine to make Naples a great destination for football tourism.
If you are visiting Naples from September to May you should be able to see a game at the stadium, a short drive west of the city center.

United Continues Its Global Expansion
