Though driving is perhaps one of the more surprising ways to travel throughout the United Kingdom, Auto Europe recently released some predictions for the most popular road trip destinations in the spring, as North American travelers reportedly opted to extend the duration of car rentals in London to more than 10 days in 2016.
First on the list is Manchester, a city rich with industrial history. The city is a must-visit for soccer fans, history buffs and art lovers alike. The city’s close proximity to a number of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and five of the most breathtaking drives in Wales and Western England makes Manchester the perfect starting point for a spring road trip.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, London is one of the best destinations for a spring road trip. More and more travelers are venturing beyond the city limits to experience the culture and natural beauty of London’s surrounding towns and villages. Visit Stonehenge, Shakespeare’s birthplace and the national museum of the Royal Navy.
No UK road trip would be complete without a trip to Glasgow, the gateway to Western Scotland’s striking islands, towering mountains and mystical lochs. Scotland’s largest city boasts lively energy, great music, trendy shopping and world-class restaurants.
