Visiting the beach shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg.

The team at travel booking platform Omio researched beaches across the country to determine the top budget-friendly beaches for summer travel. The study analyzed data including guest ratings, average summer temperatures and rental fees to create the ranking.

Did your favorite beach place in the top 10?

  1. Oak Street Beach (Chicago, Illinois)
  2. Cape May Beach (Cape May, New Jersey)
  3. Driftwood Beach (Jekyll Island, Georgia)
  4. Ocean City Beach (Ocean City, Maryland)
  5. Grand Haven City Beach (Grand Haven, Michigan)
  6. Zuma Beach (Malibu, California)
  7. Playa de Isla Verde (San Juan, Puerto Rico)
  8. Saint George Island State Park (St. George Island, Florida)
  9. Coast Guard Beach (Eastham, Massachusetts)
  10. Coopers Beach (The Hamptons, New York)

Chicago’s Oak Street Beach, on the shores of Lake Michigan, came in first place. The affordable beach boasts reasonably priced sunbed rentals and drink prices. Cape May Beach and Driftwood Beach ranked in the second and third spots, with each offering budget-friendly ice cream and drinks.

On the other end, beaches in Key West, Florida; Carmel-by-the-Sea, California; and Miami, Florida, ranked the most expensive. Florida beaches were among the most expensive for sunbed rentals and ice cream.

Are You Ready for the Final Switch to Real ID?

Yesterday, TSA began enforcing new identification guidelines, a change that’s been a long-time coming. Now, travelers must show a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued ID in order to fly on domestic flights, in lieu of a non-compliant driver’s license (some other forms of identification, such as passports, will still be acceptable).
