Under $100 / Europe

Bath is the largest city in Somerset, England, with more than 300,000 people visiting from international locations each year. It is known for its Roman baths and being a city where Jane Austen lived.

Begin your day walking to the Roman Baths first because the lines can get long quickly. Most people recommend arriving anywhere from an hour to a half an hour early to be one of the first in line. The entrance fee is $20 and more expensive than most museums, but definitely worth the experience. Audio guides are included in the admission fee to make the experience educational.

Next stop — Bath Abbey. It is The Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. The cathedral is gorgeous and a great representation of Gothic architecture. It is free to enter so jump in line and then take your time admiring the church.

Following the church, it is time for lunch. One of the best places to get lunch in Bath is the Wild Café. The food is locally sourced and the website includes a list of the suppliers. You will not spend any more than $15 for a lunch entrée and a drink.

After your hearty lunch, it is time to visit a favorite of book lovers worldwide — The Jane Austen Center. The admission price is $15 for adults and $12 for students. This includes an exhibition that highlights her time in Bath and the influence of Bath in her work.

To conclude a long day of sightseeing, grab dinner at The Circus Restaurant and treat yourself to a delicious meal. Plan to spend around $30 for a meal and a dessert. If you feel like hitting the town at night, check out the Bizarre Bath Comedy Walk Tour, it is $10 and starts every evening at 8 p.m.
