Under $100 / North America

Beguiling Moab, Utah, sits just off the impressive red rock canyons of the Colorado River, and within easy reach of two top-notch national parks: Arches and Canyonlands. To visit Moab is to fall in love.

The outdoor recreation mecca will give you plenty of options to fill up a vacation. Start your day with breakfast at Love Muffin Café, a downtown haunt for classic dishes and great coffee. Budget around $12.

Your choices for daytrip activities involve hiking, hot air ballooning, rafting and a great many more. One of the best options is to visit either Canyonlands National Park or Arches National Park for the day, picking hikes and scenic drives that involve taking in the scenic red rocks that made this area famous. Both charge a $10 entrance fee per vehicle.

Pick up sandwiches and snacks to take with you for the day, and be sure to stock up on water — you’ll need it for the dry desert environment, whether you come on a hot day or not. Sweet Cravings Bistro is open early and serves lunch, so it’s easy to grab something to take with you. Its menu of sandwiches is enormous so it’s also easy to find something for everyone. Budget around $15 for a sandwich and water.

After a day in the parks, wind down with beer and a big burger at adventure-themed Moab Brewery.
