If you’re on a budget this summer, you won’t want to travel to one of these destinations.
A new study from OptimosTravels looked at more than 100 destinations across the country, analyzing accommodation costs, restaurant prices, public transportation costs and attraction fees, to find where you can expect to spend the most if you book a trip in the near future.
The study found the overall most expensive vacation destination in the United States is Aspen, Colorado, with an average daily cost of more than $760 per traveler. The second-most expensive destination, at an average daily cost of more than $710 per traveler, is Park City, Utah.
The top 10 also includes Maui, Hawai’i; Montauk, New York; Santa Monica, California; Key West, Florida; Charleston, South Carolina; New York City, New York; Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts; and Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
However, OptimosTravels also looked at the most affordable domestic vacation destinations, as well. If you’d like to spend less than $200 per day per traveler, consider a trip to Outer Banks, North Carolina; Charleston, West Virginia; Helen, Georgia; Tybee Island, Georgia; Gatlinburg, Tennessee; or Sedona, Arizona.
