With summer in session, many adventurous travelers flock to national parks to explore hiking trails, stunning views and mountain air. Recently, KURU Footwear, known for its comfortable shoes, conducted a study of all 63 U.S. national parks to find the top 10 parks for hikes. The study looked at the number of trails, miles of trails, average trail rating and peak crowd levels.
The top 10 national parks for hikers in 2024 are:
- Yosemite National Park
- Great Smoky Mountains National Park
- Yellowstone National Park
- Olympic National Park
- Shenandoah National Park
- Glacier National Park
- Rocky Mountain National Park
- Sequoia National Park
- Grand Canyon National Park
- Kings Canyon National Park
California has the most national parks in the top 10 list. KURU Footwear calculated hiking every trail in all U.S. national parks would take 11 years if you did one trail per day. There are more than 44,000 combined miles of hiking trails in all U.S. national parks. Despite sitting at No. 2, Great Smoky Mountains National Park has the most trails and gets the highest number of visitors, while Yosemite has the most miles of trails.

Yesterday, TSA began enforcing new identification guidelines, a change that’s been a long-time coming. Now, travelers must show a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued ID in order to fly on domestic flights, in lieu of a non-compliant driver’s license (some other forms of identification, such as passports, will still be acceptable).
