PICTAR turns your iPhone into a professional, easy-to-use camera. The grip, which slides effortlessly around the bottom half of your phone, is equipped with a mount, smart wheel, exposure compensation wheel, shutter release, zoom ring and selfie button. While that all may sound a bit foreign, these features are all vital to creating high-quality, one-of-a-kind photos you won’t believe are taken on an iPhone.
The shutter release is the top button on a camera, similar to what you’d find on a DSLR, only now it’s on the side of your iPhone. The half-press mode allows you to focus in on the object you’re photographing, before completely committing to a photo. The zoom ring eliminates the need to “pinch” your screen to zoom, so you can zoom as you focus. An exposure compensation wheel takes managing the brightness of a photo, typically completed during the editing process, and makes it available before you even snap a picture. The smart wheel allows you to switch between a variety of settings and features, such as auto, portrait, landscape, sport, snow and video modes.
The size of the grip allows users to maintain a firm grasp on their phone even while in motion, and the buttons are laid out in a way that allows for one-handed photography. No more missing a shot because you’re worried you’ll drop your iPhone in a precarious situation, never to see it again.
PICTAR offers a variety of accessories as well, including wrist and neck straps, tripods and padded cases, so your PICTAR grip feels like a real camera.
Currently, PICTAR works with the iPhone 4/4S, 5/5C/5S/SE and 6/6S. It is currently not available for Android. The PICTAR grip, a wrist strap, pouch and the PICTAR app start at $90.
