Name: Christine Chang

Profession: Co-founder of Glow Recipe

Age: 33

Packing Tip?

Have a thin shawl or blanket for the plane and don’t forget your sunscreen.

Favorite travel memory?

My first trip to Europe as a child, with my family was an incredibly eye-opening visual and culinary experience.

Bucket List Destination?

South Africa, to see the Great Migration

Favorite off-the-beaten-path spot?

The Maldives: While not truly off-the-beaten-path, the week I spent there felt like I was on a mystical, private island.

What kind of traveler are you?

A mix of budget and luxe, I enjoy riding local buses and trams and going to street markets, but prefer a decent hotel where I can get some rest.

Funniest travel story?

After trekking up the Great Wall with a group of friends from my Hong Kong study abroad program, we went to an Uyghur restaurant for dinner. Little did we know that after dinner, the long wooden tables would be cleared for table-top dancing. Everyone from children to senior citizens danced with absolute abandon … and we joined them, of course!

Best meal you’ve had on your travels?

My favorite cuisine will always be Korean — there’s a small restaurant next to the Bosung green tea fields that serves an incredible mixture of light, crisp farm vegetables drizzled with warm sesame oil on a bed of rice. Heaven. And the green tea — earthy and bittersweet — that I’ve tasted there is a sensory experience beyond any other.

Craziest thing you’ve done while traveling?

I drove a moped in Malaysia. Considering I still don’t have a driver’s license, and riding a bike was a distant childhood memory, it involved a lot of wobbling.

Favorite item collected from your travels?

Where next?

Disneyworld, with my daughter
