Tips / Travel

Staying in shape while you travel can often be difficult, but it’s not impossible. Don’t let travel prevent you from earning that six pack you’ve been working so hard for. Here are a few ways to get in that workout while you’re away from the gym.

The Hotel Gym

Some gyms have a rec room with treadmills and weights. You probably won’t find them in smaller places or hostels, so check before you book if you want this perk. You don’t need anything too fancy, just enough to make you work up a sweat.

Temporary Gym Pass

Many gyms around the world offer one-day passes. Sometimes you’ll have to fudge the truth and say you’re new in town and looking for a new gym to use in order to get them to let you test it out. Others are more than happy to sell you a temporary pass.

Hit the Parks

A lot of public parks have exercise stations or equipment like monkey bars you can use for a quick workout. Run the track or build your push-up count while soaking up some rays overseas.

Skip the Bus

Instead of using public transit to make your way around, try hoofing it instead. Not only will it help you shed a few calories during your trip, but you’ll also spend more time taking in the sites and maybe even stumble upon a unique or hidden place.

Use Resistance Bands

You can’t take your gym with you, but you can take a resistance band. These are great tools to help you get in your workout in a confined space like a hotel room without the need for bulky equipment and can fit into your luggage without issues.
