Anyone looking to buy a casual daybag with technical features should check out the XFR Tote.
The XFR Tote promises to replace your gym bag, laptop case and backpack in one expandable package. Maker Jerome Daksiewicz developed a tote bag that converts into a shoulder bag and a backpack, increasing in capacity from 22 to 32 liters as a result.
By using 600D double-sided tarpaulin, the same material used to make inflatable boats, Daksiewicz ensures the XFR is ready for an active lifestyle. It is currently available for $40 in matte black or blaze orange on Kickstarter.
Millennials are always searching for solutions which minimize clutter without affecting function. The XFR Tote is a great example of a multifunctional product that adapts to perform different tasks at different times. In the interest of convenience, the bag features an external sleeve that allows it to fit over the luggage rack of major bike-share bicycles around the world.
The luggage market is crowded and the XFR Tote will have a tough time convincing consumers it can successfully function as three distinct types of bag. It’s a great idea in principle, but there is a danger that in trying to cover too many bases, the XFR Tote fails to perform in all of them.
