Famously known for its Ichabod Crane associations, Sleepy Hollow is a great destination for both literary fans and history buffs.

Sit down for brunch at Tarry Tavern, where you can sip a cup of locally roasted coffee to go alongside your brioche French toast or classic eggs benedict. You’ll start your day off on the right foot and only spend about $15.

You can easily use your entire day wondering around Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. You can get a map at the visitor’s center and walk the extensive property yourself for free, or sign up for a two-hour walking tour ($20). You’ll see the famous Sleepy Hollow bridge and the graves of Washington Irving, Elizabeth Arden, Andrew Carnegie and many Revolutionary War veterans.

Eat a light lunch at The River Grill, where the daily lunch specials include personalized salads, pasta, chicken and pork sandwiches, all for $10 or less. If the weather’s nice, you can request an outdoor table overlooking the Hudson.

Visit Washington Irving’s restored home, known as Sunnyside, still filled with his possessions and overseen by Historic Hudson Valley. Tours are only $12 and led by a knowledgeable guide dressed in period garb.

End your day with dinner and a regional craft beer at Bridge View Tavern. You can easily get your dinner for less than $20 and the options are many, from a variety of sandwiches and burgers to seafood and salads.
