Drones have quickly become available for the mass markets, most notably the hordes of travelers who seek new ways to capture their vacations and adventures from new perspectives. With each new model comes advanced technologies and capabilities, not the least of which is evident in GoPro’s new Karma prototype. Practically created for travel purposes, the drone is foldable and portable, making it an essential item for image-conscious travelers.
Recently released this fall, GoPro’s Karma drone comes with a small rectangular pack and four rotor-equipped arms that fold snugly by its side. Users will have to attach their own GoPro Hero4 or Hero5 cameras as the drone does not come with this feature. Once attached, the camera can be used in drone mode (featuring propeller-free shots) or by hand, kept steady thanks to the specialized Karma Grip.
The drone controller features two joysticks similar to that of a video game controller as well as a touchscreen that can be paired with a smartphone, allowing users to control the shots while other users can fly the device.
The Karma drone costs a cool $799. There is the option to purchase the Hero5 camera with the drone as a package for $1,099.
