Located in Sonoma County, about 90 miles outside of San Francisco, Healdsburg, Calif., is a charming town brimming with natural beauty and cultural activities. Follow our tips for seeing the city on less than $100 a day.
Start your day with a pastry and coffee from Costeaux French Bakery. The full-service bakery has served artisanal breads and other baked goods since 1923. Grab your pastry to go or sit down for a full breakfast. Spend $5–15. Next, take a tour of Russian River Rose Company. The spectacular gardens feature more than 600 rose varieties, as well as other plants and flowers. A guided tour costs $4.50.
Have lunch at Healdsburg SHED. The James Beard award-winning restaurant serves up dishes made with local, seasonal ingredients. Make sure to try a beverage from the fermentation bar with your meal. Lunch costs about $25–30. Stroll through downtown Healdsburg and visit the quaint stores for shopping or browsing.
A trip to Healdsburg isn’t complete without experiencing local wine. Though there are many options to choose from, visit the tasting room at Selby Winery. The centrally located tasting room is the oldest in Healdsburg’s downtown. A tasting flight is $10. End your day with dinner at Spoonbar.
