Decades, even just years ago, full-time employees would fantasize about the opportunity to swap the car or train commute for a commute of just a few steps to their kitchen table to complete their (mostly) laptop-based work duties from the comfort of their home. Today, this fantasy has become a reality for many workers, especially the younger generations. With most modern work tasks involving computers, remote working has become a fast-growing trend, so long as you’re within virtual reach of a decent WiFi connection.
Working from anywhere makes it a lot easier to squeeze in travel when you’re not always certain if you’ll have enough vacation days to take the trip of your dreams. Rather than using up all your vacation time, you can book a trip a day or two before you would have planned to leave and work for a bit from your intended destination. All you’ll need is reliable WiFi and possibly a quick calculation of time zone differences if you have calls or virtual meetings scheduled. With apps like Zoom, Slack and Skype for Business, it’s never been easier to stay connected to your colleagues.
If you have strict working hours, consider flights first thing in the morning or late at night, which are often cheaper. You can leave after you clock out and arrive at your destination in time to start work the next morning.
If you’re not as productive when left to your own devices, co-working spaces can be found around the globe where you can set up your own workstation for a few days and get a taste of the communal office feel.

Known as Florida’s Forgotten Coast, this stretch of the Florida Panhandle is often overlooked for more well-known destinations in the state, such as Panama City Beach, Miami and Tampa. But the region’s quiet and laid-back atmosphere slowly draws travelers wishing to escape the crowds and high prices of Florida’s other cities, and one hospitality brand just announced plans to bring a 55-acre resort and community to the area.
