Tenerife is known for its extraordinary natural spaces thanks to the island’s unique volcanic landscapes that molded into magical climbing areas. The destination also features year-round warm weather, which draws outdoor enthusiasts to the area. Tenerife is a rock climber’s paradise, with plenty of areas to explore.
The island offers a diverse range of climbing routes for all skill sets and abilities. Most have free access, but some require permission, typically obtained in-situ through a QR code. Sites like Guaria, near Guia de Isora, and some other places in Teide National Park feature QR codes.
Arico
One of the first rock-climbing sites in Southern Tenerife, Arico has more than 250 single-pitch sport climbing routes, including some for every level of difficulty. This is the best route of any climbing area on the island.
Guaria
Guaria, the island’s third-largest climbing area, is one of Tenerife’s tallest routes. Travelers who prefer longer single-pitch routes or multi-pitch climbing will find what they are looking for in Guaria. You might even be able to catch a glimpse of one of the island’s endangered bird species living in the area.
Teide National Park
Teide National Park is one of the most-visited parks in all of Europe and home to the highest peak in Spain, Teide. This Natural World Heritage site offers one of the most impressive volcanic structures, as well as some of the most impressive scenery you’ve ever seen.
