If you’re a fan of both wineries and sustainability, you’re likely keeping an eye on how your favorite vineyards put eco-friendly measures at the forefront of their operations — and now, if you live in the general vicinity of Niagara on the Lake, Ontario, (or are planning a nearby trip soon) you’ll have an excellent excuse to visit Stratus Vineyards.

Stratus Vineyards recently became Ontario’s first Certified B Corp winery. It’s only one of three to receive such a recognition in the country. B Corp certification ensures a business is not only environmentally friendly, but also socially responsible and transparent.

According to the winery, the certification process has included using lightweight and re-used glass bottles for its wine; establishing a long-term, local supply chain; partnering with local not-for-profits; and paying careful attention to workforce needs.

“B Corp certification recognizes the culmination of our work since day one and holds us to a fulsome standard of ethical and purpose-driven business practice. This accomplishment belongs to our entire team, whose commitment and passion allows us to pursue excellence in the glass while being equally ambitious about our impact on our land, our people and our community,” said Suzanne Janke, general manager, Stratus Vineyards.

Move to the Music and Rhythm of Destinations Around the World

The true rhythm of a country is felt away from the main tourist traps. Galleries, museums and historic sites provide an overview, but you need to go elsewhere to experience the living, beating heart of a place. For instance, immerse yourself in the humid turmoil of a Durban underground club, or get to grips with the formal group dances of the Scottish Highlands, or become part of the foot-stomping camaraderie of a Galway pub, or ride the waves of neon-lit energy in a Seoul basement nightclub.
