While there are numerous organizations attempting to lend aid to children in Africa, few of them are attempting to do it through yoga. If you’re a budding yogi in the making or an experienced enthusiast, the Africa Yoga Project in Kenya might have an opportunity for you.
The AYP’s goal is to empower African youth by using yoga to support physical and emotional health, facilitating authentic personal expression and building positive communities. While the organization is grateful for anyone willing to contribute through fundraising at home, there is also an opportunity to travel to Kenya and work hands-on with youth there through the AYP Ambassador Program.
This two-week adventure allows you work with children in Kenya and teach them yoga and the principles of health that go along with it. The idea is that eventually they’ll use this in their personal lives to stay healthy, make smart decisions and spread positivity in Africa.
Selection for the Ambassador Program is competitive and involves a bit more than simply signing up. In fact, one of the primary goals is to raise $10,000 in fundraising before the trip to help build communities in the area. It also helps to cover your living experiences for the 14 days you’re there.
If you’re an accomplished yogi, it could be a great opportunity to see one of the most fascinating parts of the world while also making a difference.
