When it comes to picking seats on an airplane, there’s the exorbitantly priced first class, the cramped and noisy economy seats, and not always much in between. American Airlines plans to change that by introducing premium-economy seats.
Guests who book these seats on their international wide-body aircraft can expect wider seats made of leather and equipped with foot rests, extra leg room and larger entertainment screens. These esteemed guests will also receive noise-reducing headphones, free in-flight WiFi and they will be able to check two bags for free, instead of the customary one-bag allowance.
The airline giant hopes to roll out this new class of seats by the end of 2016. The new section will be added to new planes while some models of existing aircraft will be altered to include three amended rows. This change comes after evaluating customer feedback from passengers who seek more comfort and space, but who do not want to cash all their miles or paychecks for a first-class seat.
American Airlines already equipped most of its aircraft with Main Cabin Extra seats that allow slightly more leg room, but the new class will see improved amenities, more personal service and an overall more pleasant flying experience.
