Ashore Resort & Beach Club opens as a newly reimagined upscale resort destination on prime beachfront location in Ocean City, Maryland. With a property-wide renovation set to be completed this spring, the resort will feature panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Assawoman Bay, oceanside food and beverage service and amenities, a 3,000-square-foot deck overlooking the Atlantic, new restaurant concepts and beachfront entertainment.

“We were thrilled to acquire this beachfront property and identify new and exciting ways to capture its untapped potential,” said Nolan Hecht, senior managing director, Certares, the real estate management company behind Ashore. “With the help of a best-in-class design firm and fantastic operator, we are looking forward to delivering a new and improved vacation experience to couples, families and friends staying at the resort as well as offering revamped dining options to the broader Ocean City community.”

Ashore will boast 250 renovated guestrooms and suites, including 15 of them multiroom suites; modern décor in calming earth tones; plush bedding; 55-inch, flat-screen TVs; private balconies overlooking the beach; modern bathrooms with oversized mirrors; a custom line of bespoke beauty products; and more.

On the beach, custom umbrellas and lounge chairs await guests, as they do on the outdoor pool deck. Adirondack chairs surround firepits. Food and cocktails can be ordered from chairs or cabanas on the beach, unique for OCMD.

Five food-and-beverage concepts will include Tide Room, serving American and fresh seafood for breakfast, lunch and dinner; Wahoo Beach Bar, with live music, light food and a signature cocktail menu; The Shore Deck overlooking the dunes and delivering small bites and beverages; The Taproom, boasting a menu of local brews and cocktails alongside sports entertainment; and Ashore Things, for coffee, grab-and-go bites and related sundries.

Are You Ready for the Final Switch to Real ID?

Yesterday, TSA began enforcing new identification guidelines, a change that’s been a long-time coming. Now, travelers must show a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued ID in order to fly on domestic flights, in lieu of a non-compliant driver’s license (some other forms of identification, such as passports, will still be acceptable).
