Destination

Ouzo is one of Greece’s most famous exports and the uniquely flavored drink is one of those things you either love or hate. If you’re a fan of ouzo and have always wondered how it’s made, there are plenty of tours to help you learn.

Greek Honey & Ouzo Tasting Tour

Nafplio is a seaport town that houses both ouzo breweries and honey farms, so why not combine the two experiences with one trip? This tour will take you through a local distillery where you can sample ouzo and see how it’s made, then walk through an orange grove teeming with honeybees.

Greek Ouzo Liquor Museum

The Barbayannis family has been distilling ouzu for five generations and their devotion to the craft shows in the wonderful taste. They’ve established the Greek Ouzo Liquor Museum for curious connoisseurs to take a peak behind the scenes. You’ll also get to explore the distillery while you’re there.

Arvanitis Distillery

Plomari is a popular place for ouzu, which is why there are multiple distilleries in the area. The Avanitis Distillery is a local favorite, but don’t go expecting to find out their secrets; the combination of herbs used in their ouzo is closely guarded. They’ll still let you tour the facilities and taste samples. They also offer special packages for purchase for tour guests.
