When summer arrives in the nation´s capital, residents flock to the outdoor happy hours and rooftop bars for refreshments with a view. See below for a few of D.C.´s best rooftop bars where patrons can enjoy cocktails high above the city.
POV at the W Hotel
One block east and many stories above the White House is W Hotel´s POV Bar. The rooftop bar is where D.C.´s elite comes together for after-work cocktails while sampling views of D.C.´s most majestic monuments.
DNV Rooftop Lounge at The Donovan House
Peer out to the traffic below in Thomas Circle while sipping a beer high above downtown D.C. Guests of the hotel can enjoy the rooftop pool during their stay and then stay for a cocktail after a swim.
Brixton
More popular among young professionals, this three-story bar on U Street features a different vibe on each level, becoming progressively hipper as guests scale the stairs to the top.
Jack Rose
At the bottom of Adams Morgan sits this whiskey saloon with a spacious roof terrace and some of the District´s best whiskey. Snack on classic American appetizers like fried chicken skins with paprika and lime or smoked whiskey wings.
Rock and Roll Hotel
This H Street hotspot known for its live music also does a pretty good job catering to the electronic crowd as well. The roof deck features DJs on Fridays and Saturday nights without the odor of pretention.
