Staying motivated and focused on fitness while traveling is easier said than done, as you’re constantly going and never really settled. While hotels are listening to the demand and exploring new fitness opportunities for guests, there may be an easier option to get that quick workout in — your phone.
Luckily we live in an era of smartphones and apps, allowing fitness-minded travelers to stay on track. There are a few apps that make keeping track of exercise easy and worry-free.
My Fitness Pal
Simply create a profile and include your height weight, gender and age, set weight loss and exercise goals and throughout the day enter what you eat and drink using the database. The app calculates how many calories you’ve consumed, how many you need to burn to meet your weight loss goals and provides nutrition charts. If you want to document your exercise, the app balances calorie intake against exercise, making it the on-the-go tracker.
Map My Run
This must-have app can track mileage and plan a workout based on the best things to see in the city. What more can you ask for, calories burned and tourist attractions seen?
Waterlogged
Hydration is key for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and sometimes while getting caught up in traveling, water is last on the list. This app reminds you to hydrate between photo ops, while on a plane or wandering through a new city. It allows you to customize your experience by indicating the size and type of water bottle you drink from.
Nike Training Club
Nike Training Club gives you a range of ways to workout, as routines are 30–45 minutes and many feature no equipment, perfect for an on-the-go traveler. There are video tutorials, rewards logged for fitness minutes and reminders to cater to your schedule.
